Rosamelia
One of the activities that Rosamelia enjoys the most when traveling is discovering the local culture and cuisine scouting out the restaurants and food stands that cities have to offer. Inspired by her passion for food, cooking, fresh and local ingredients combined with travel, the idea of Ambrosia came to exist as a way to promote the local and traditional food of the country where she grew up: Ecuador. Food has always been an essential part of her life because in her culture the best conversations and most remarkable moments occur around meals, whether with family or friends.
She was exposed to the art of cooking since very early in her life as she loved watching cooking programs on TV. Little she knew that her first job after finishing university would be as video editor of short cooking programs for Nestle Venezuela at a reputable production company in Caracas. The connection with food was made! She was hooked for life.
With the goal of sharing Ecuadorian culture to the rest of the world, Rosamelia carefully drafted Ambrosia Culinary & Gourmet Tours. Through this innovative project, she seeks to make Ecuador a culinary destination for avid travelers, cuisine connoisseurs, savvy and potential cooks and for people who are looking for alternative ways to experience new countries and their cultures.
Her work as a communications specialist for international development projects has allowed her to visit the urban and rural areas of countries in regions such as Latin America, North America, Asia and Europe. In all of them, there has always been time to savour both the native and modern gastronomy.
Rosamelia has lived in Ecuador, Venezuela, United Kingdom, Chile and Canada. She currently lives in Vancouver and travels frequently to Ecuador for work and pleasure. You can find her either writing on her laptop in neighbourhood cafés, taking pictures of people and food, or experimenting new recipes that she shares with friends.
